Did you know that each week The Providence Flea introduces crowds to a local non-profit doing great work? We are very pleased to host The Initiative to Educate Afghan Women on The First Flea of the year on June 1.
The Initiative to Educate Afghan Women has worked tirelessly for more than a decade to provide Afghan women with four-year college scholarships at over 20 universities in the United States. In the process they are helping to bring change to Afghanistan.
Under the rule of the Taliban women were not allowed to be educated. With the liberation of their country, young Afghan women are slowly returning to the education system and their voices are being heard.
The Initiative to Educate Afghan Women has accelerated change by offering a college education at some of the nation’s best schools. These young women return to Afghanistan after graduation to help their country move forward.
