New Covid-19 Guidelines
per order of the Governor's Re-opening RI Plan
To view complete guidance, see the info in Reopening RI’s Phased Plan here.
We've summarized the above guidance as it pertains to our market--our customers, vendors and staff--for how we can help prevent infection and reduce the spread of COVID-19.
MARKET DETAILS
We've shortened the length of the Flea
We'll be open from 10 AM to 2 PM (instead of 4 PM).
The market will be contained
The market area will be roped off with clearly marked entrances and exits to comply with attendance limits and one-way traffic requirements. No more cutting through between vendor tents!
Cash is no longer King!
We'll be encouraging use of contactless payments (credit/debit cards, online payment services, pre-order and pre-payment of products) and rounding to the nearest dollar to avoid the exchange of cash and coins.
We've reduced the market's capacity and increased spacing between vendors
The market will be smaller, and there will be more distance between vendors for their safety.
Masks are required for everyone
We'll have signage to inform customers of the new guidelines:
Crowded booths are not allowed
We are not allowed a crowded market as in pre-Covid times. Staff will monitor physical distancing and capacity limits in the market area, overall, and in individual booths/stalls.
Customers that are outside of vendors' booths and outside of walkways must leave six-foot (6’) spacing between each other while they wait, and ensure that six feet of physical distance is maintained at all times. Vendors will also be responsible for limiting service to one customer or party at a time.
Good hygiene
PVD Flea will reinforce frequent hand-sanitizing and good hygiene (coughing and sneezing into elbow or a tissue; avoiding touching mouth, nose, and eyes; etc.), and if sick, staying at home. Hand sanitizing stations with at least 60% alcohol will be available in the market and at vendor booths to encourage regular hand hygiene for staff, vendors and customers. On site info will be available from the Flea info table at the south end entrance to the market.
Vendor responsibilities
Vendors will be pre-screened for Covid-19 symptoms and will be instructed to stay home or reschedule if they feel ill or have Covid-19 symptoms. All vendors are required to review and sign the reopening checklist poster before their first market.
Low touch, sanitary environment
Customers are discouraged from handling items unless they are serious about purchasing, and they may be asked to use hand sanitizer before touching items.
Vendor displays will look very different as some items won't be allowed if they are not easily sanitized.
Vendors may use paper bags but not reused plastic bags.
Customers can bring their own totes but must bag their own purchased items.
Food Trucks & Music
We'll have less food trucks and some of them may require pre-ordering, which can still be done on site at the Flea, for contactless pickup. Customers will have to use the 6-foot rule and physically distance if there is a line at a truck. There will be no eating allowed in the market, but you can still have a physically distanced picnic anywhere you can find along the river .
There will be no live music yet, so we'll stream your favorite playlists from Spotify.
Contact Tracing
PVD Flea will require anonymous contact tracing for all vendors via the Crush Covid app. That's not an oxymoron. Check out the link above and see how it can help contain the spread of the virus you if you're exposed to someone who has tested positive. We recommend customers download it as well!
All other COVID-19 related health and safety guidelines included in the Governor’s latest executive order remain in place. Check out more info on the Crush Covid app below.
