INSURANCE
In addition to requiring insurance for food vendors (coffee, tea, baked goods, prepared foods, etc.), in order to ensure a safe and responsible environment at our market, all vendors of soap, apothecary and cosmetic items as well as henna artists will be required as well to have Liability Insurance beginning with the 2018 Summer Markets.
This includes but is not limited to any skincare/haircare/bodycare/animal care items such as Animal Shampoo, Essential Oils, Body Lotions, Apothecary/Cosmetics, Soap, Lip Balm, Bath Salts, Body Balms, Face scrubs, Hair Care Products, etc.* If you're not sure, please contact us at [email protected].
*Please also note that the Flea does not allow CBD products at the Flea.
Before your first market, you will need to provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI) from your insurance agent naming the Providence Flea as an "Additional Insured," similar to our requirement of food vendors. The info for the COI is
Providence Flea LLC
c/o 1284 Broad St.
P.O. Box 2270
Providence, RI 02905
Although we have never had an incident with any of our vendors' products, we have decided that customer safety must be first above all else, even though it may create a financial burden for some vendors. The risk to you as one of these vendors, however, is also great, and we strongly recommend protecting your business and your personal assets with coverage.
Although we do not recommend or endorse any of the companies or organizations listed below, we do suggest you check them out and do your own research as well. And make sure that Certificates of Insurance are provided at no additional cost to cover you at any market or show at which you vend.
- FOOD LIABILITY INSURANCE PROGRAM - FLIP (food vendors)
- DIFFERENT KINDS OF INSURANCE FOR SOAPMAKERS AND COSMETIC VENDORS (Lovin Soap)
- HANDCRAFTED SOAP & COSMETIC GUILD (HSCG)
- "WHY YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED INSURANCE BEFORE YOU BUY A SINGLE BAR OF SOAP" (Modern Soapmaking)
