The Flea is an award-winning, open-air market that brings together some of the most sought after makers, upcyclers and vintage dealers together with non-profits, musicians, food trucks and the public. The Flea is entering its 11th season, held every Sunday in the summer on the Providence River Greenway, at 275 South Water Street, and on select Fridays at Farm Fresh RI Market Hall , 10 Sims Ave in Providence.
JOB DESCRIPTION - MARKET ASSISTANT
Employee Hours:
5-10 hours/week - on site
Every Sunday, June 4 - September 24, 7 AM - 12 PM AND 12 PM - 4:30 PM SHIFTS OR WORK THE WHOLE DAY.
PLUS two Friday night markets on June 9th and August 18th 2:30-10:30 pm.
Dress code:
Neat casual (shorts, sneakers), Flea t-shirt provided
Description:
Assist with logistics and set-up of on-site market. Includes setting up Flea tent and display, carrying tent weights (able to carry a minimum 30 lbs at least 50 feet), checking in and assisting vendors, assisting with issuing tax permits, monitoring parking and load-in/out, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Must be a morning person! Must be a people person! Must be on time!
Punctual, professional, mature, friendly, outgoing, assertive.
Experience in customer service helpful.

JOB DESCRIPTION - ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR - 15 HRS/WEEK

15 hours/week flexible - remote
Description:
A position with the Flea offers the right person(s) the opportunity to learn more about running and promoting a successful event, attended by thousands of Rhode Island residents and out of state tourists all summer long. Staff will work on real projects and are mentored by Flea organizers, getting hands-on experience and the flexibility to be part of a creative team.
Assist with planning, scheduling and implementing of market logistics.
Assist with vendor relations and management/communications
Requirements:
Excellent communication skills and computer skills (Excel), demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail, the ability to work independently on important projects, and most importantly, a strong interest in the local economy–specifically buying local and the maker movement.
